Secrets Of Success Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924 is credited with being the Father of the Modern Success/Self-Help Movement in America. He was the founder of "Success Magazine" which he first published in 1897. He quickly built up the magazine to a wide circulation of nearly 500,000, which was an enormous circulation for its day. Marden, orphaned at the age of eight, overcame many obstacles to eventually become a self made man. Inspired by a book he found in an attic, "Self-Help" by Samuel Smiles, he went on to earn a Doctorate In Medicine from Harvard, as well as one in Law from Boston University. He was a prolific success writer and authored more than 50 popular motivational and inspirational books. Now history seems to be repeating itself, as some of Marden's own seldom seen writings have been found, in a different time, but a not too different attic.
